One hidden five-letter word, six guesses, color clues — and everyone gets the same word today.

Each day brings one fresh five-letter word to crack. After every guess the tiles recolor to steer you: green means right letter, right spot; gold means it's in the word but somewhere else; gray means it's not in there at all. Everybody plays the same word each day, which makes it a shared little ritual — and a reason to come back tomorrow.

Dodge hosts it, and you can share your result grid without giving the answer away. It's our daily-challenge hook: one puzzle a day keeps it special.

How to play Daily Word

1. Type any five-letter word as your opening guess and submit it.
2. Read the colors: green = right letter, right spot; gold = right letter, wrong spot; gray = not in the word.
3. Use those clues to shape your next guess.
4. Crack the word within six guesses to win.
5. Come back tomorrow for a brand-new word — the same one everyone else gets.

Tips & strategy

• Open with a word full of common letters and vowels (A, E, R, S, T) to light up as much as possible.
• Spend guess two on a fresh batch of common letters rather than reshuffling what you already know.
• Pay attention to gold letters — they're in the word, just not where you put them, so relocate them.
• Watch for double letters. The answer can repeat a letter, which is easy to forget.
• Don't burn a guess on a word you already know can't be right; every guess should teach you new letters.
